Anne's Beach

This Islamorada Beach is dedicated to local environmentalist Anne Eaton. There are 2 parking lots (North & South) approximately 1/4 mile apart on US-1 at MM 73. Anne's Beach features a shallow swimming area, covered picnic tables, boardwalk and bathroom facilities.

Most visitors stick to the beach areas near the restrooms, and parking lots. Other experience the boardwalk trail and walk  between the lots. There are 5 covered pavilions and many secluded stretches of beach.

 

Where the Land meets the Sea Anne's Beach is easy to find, easy to reach, and easy to enjoy. It's located on the oceanside and the land is narrow. The beach isn't huge and in fact it's incredibly narrow and natural-looking. It is a great place for those who choose to stop by for a quick dip in the ocean or a senic rest stop.The natural look is exemplified by the presence of lots of mangrove trees growing just behind the sand, among a boardwalk. You can walk through the trees and look out at the ocean. It makes you realize that you are part of a perfect tropical scene. Let the everday tension of life melt. It's a great place to decompress and start to relax and enjoy your Keys vacation. Bring a cooler, bring a boxed lunch, becaue there are picnic tables along the boardwalk. Picnic tables on decks with roofs over them to create a shady place to have lunch and hang.

Anne's Beach is a popular village park whose beach is best enjoyed at low tide. The nicest feature here is a ½-mi elevated wooden boardwalk that meanders through a natural wetland hammock. Covered picnic areas along the boardwalk provide a place to linger and enjoy the view. Restrooms are at the north end. There is a bit of a sandy beach to spend some time on and plenty of opportunity for exploring.  This is one hidden little section with this big tree just hanging on to land, hoping not be swallowed by the Atlantic Ocean. Anne's beach has a long sandbar that goes a long way out and the water is perfect for the kids to snorkel and look for shells and small ocean life. People go way out into the water, and the water is barely to their waists. One thing to be mindful of is that there is a white path to walk out into the water. Stay on that path, otherwise you will be walking in the gooiest, slimiest sand in the water. The water temperture is a joy. You may see fish, and shells. Anne's Beach is more of a wayside park than a beach. Red and black mangroves line the narrow shoreline. Depending on the tide, there may be a 10 - 20 feet wide firm wet sand beach. There is a partially shaded boardwalk through the mangroves with covered picnic shelters.
