When you stay at Ocean Pointe Resort you set your pace. There are many places for sailing. There is Buttonwood Sound, Florida Bay, Blackwater Sound, Largo Sound, Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Or improve your sailing skills with a Rick White Sailing Seminars. And visit the Upper Keys Sailing Club.
To my knowledge, Rick White's Sailing Seminars is the only race-training program of its type in the United States. He is trained with catamarans,Hobie, Laser, Sunfish, JY15, Force 5 and now he has added the E-Scow, the F-31, F28, F-27 and F24-trimarans and Dragonfly trimaran. Although the seminars are geared to the racing sailor and designed around a racing format, the program is equally beneficial to the day sailor or cruising sailor.

SAILING OFF SHORE OF OCEAN POINTE SUITE TACKING TO WINDWARD (BEATING)
The only way a sailboat can reach an upwind destination is through a series of tacks referred to as beating, or beating to weather. Tacking, or coming about, is changing the boat's direction so that the bow comes through the eye of the wind.
Since a 45 degrees is about the best a sailboat can point into the wind, tacking requires a turn of about 90 degrees.
